True to the slogan and theme of "INSPIRE THE WORLD", the Bali Asian Beach Games Organising Committee successfully hosted the 1st inaugural Asian Beach Games in Bali, Indonesia.

Based in Kuwait, the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) is the apex sports body controlling the sports in Asia. It is one of the five continental association recognized by the International Olympic Council (OCA). The Bali Beach Games were organised under the umbrella and supervision of the OCA.

It was a history in the making. 44 countries participated and the following sports disciplines were included: Beach Handball, Beach Kabaddi, Beach Pencak Silat, Beach Soccer, Beach Sepaktakraw, Beach Volleyball, Beach Wrestling, BODYBUILDING, Dragon Boat, Jetski Sport, Marathon Swimming, Paragliding, Sailing, Surfing, Triathlon, Windsurfing, Woodball, Beach Basketball and Beach Waterpolo.

Bodybuilding was acclaimed as one of the best spectator sport in the Games, and there were about 3000 spectators sitting and standing all night through at the pre-judging and Finals of the Bodybuilding event which took place on 19th and 20th October 2008 respectively.

Dr. Rafael Santonja, IFBB President and his Executive Assistant and Vice-President for Asia, Datuk Paul Chua together with their wives were present during this occasion.

Datuk Paul Chua was the Technical Delegate for this event and under his supervision and control together with the fantastic Organising Committee from BAGOC with the assistance from Mr. Alamsyah, General-Secretary of the All Indonesian W/Lifting, Bodybuilding and Powerlifting Association, the competitions went off without a hitch.

Many dignitaries attended the finals of the competition for our sport of bodybuilding.

Dr. Rafael Santonja and his wife Nieves attended the grand opening ceremony and met several IOC officials and friends.

The 2nd Asian Beach Games will take place in Oman in 2010.

FLY WT. CATEGORY - 60 KG

The 3 winners of the 60 kg. categories at the Victory Ceremony are Asrelawandi ( Indonesia) Gold Medal, Pham Van Mach (Vietnam) Silver Medal and Daejit Singh (India) Bronze Medal. BANTAM WT. CATEGORY - 65 KG
